My parents just gave me a nice old simplicity lawn tractor that I used to cut grass with as a kid.

Has anyone had success painting the under side of the deck on an older tractor with good rust? It’s not pitted horribly but there is thickness in some spots.

I have a wire wheel for my makita 4 1/2 angle grinder, would it work to scrape the rust off the best I can and use that to finish it, or do I need to do naval jelly after wire brushing it?

I’m not a painter, it was powder coated new, just looking for advice to make it tough under there so I can use it for a few years. Thanks
