How do i get rid of stains caused by metal sparks on porcelain?

Saturday, September 4th, 2010

Today I installed a toilet and at the end I cut the 2 screws that hold it in place with the angle grinder.
The sparks spained the porcelain toiled black. I tried to clean them with bleach but it didn’t work.
Any suggestions?

What should I use to cut this? e.g. wire cutters, angle grinder, electric hacksaw or a core cut. Also who should do this work ? a bricklayer, joiner, labourer or builder? any advice would be much appreciated. thanks.

how to cut a granite slab?

Friday, August 27th, 2010

I have s slab of 1" thick granite which is about 3′ wide by 5′ long and I need to cut about a foot off the length. The options I am considering is using an angle grinder with a diamond blade or a circular saw with a diamond blade. I want to cut it dry because I am nervous using water with a power tool. What is the easiest way to cut it? Can you give me any directions. Thanks
thank you all for your answers. i was thinking of getting it cut professionally but i have the "insane" gene so i would really like to try it myself. thanks again

Floating accident experiences?

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

Hey guys, after an incident today, I’m curious to know what has happened with you if you have had an accident with a horse truck or float.

I saw one today. We took our horses out to work them today (I got bucked off, argh! lol) and there was another girl there with a tandem float and 2 horses. She left about 5 minutes before us. Got onto the highway and the traffic was backed up. When we got closer we saw it was her.

We of course stopped to help. The divider had broken when one of the horses fell on it and broke the door. We couldn’t get him out because the chain was too tight. Luckily, a tradie was there and we borrowed an angle grinder and cut the chain. There was a business man in a suit stopping the traffic while we cut the horse out.

The horse is pretty cut up, was tangled in the wreckage of the divider but he kicked himself free. If he was a stallion before that, he wouldn’t be now. He essentially gelded himself all over again. Luckily, the highway had a really wide shoulder. The other horse was scratched up too but he was able to stay on the float, he was so calm! He just stuck his nose out the door to look at everyone, he wasn’t spooked at all.

There was a lot of people already there when we pulled up, but none were horse people and they were to scared to go near a bleeding, kicking, screaming horse. The poor girl who owned them was like "thank god" when she saw us. It took 3 of us to get the horse under control after he got free.

So yeah, the horse will be ok. No serious injuries. But has something similar happened to you?

Can I use a car battery to power a plug outlet? If so, how?

Saturday, July 31st, 2010

I need to use an angle grinder to cut locks at a self storage facility (Don’t worry, it’s legal. I own the facility.). I have looked into cordless grinders but they are expensive, don’t provide a whole lot of power and don’t last very long.

I want to be able to put a car battery on wheels and plug the 7 amp angle grinder into it.

My first question: Is this possible?

Second question: How do I connect an outlet (or a power inverter) to the car battery?

Third question: How long will a car battery last doing this?

Fourth question: Can I recharge the battery in between uses?

Thanks for your help! Feel free to refer me to another website with the answer.

I tore down my deck to put in a patio. How do I remove the last board that is attached to the house?

Monday, July 26th, 2010

Since the deck was built the same time as the house, the bolts come out of the house instead of going into them. I am going to use an angle grinder on those. There are also nails going into the house. I was going to use a crow bar to remove it, but I would like to do minimal damage to my siding whatever is behind that board. I will have stairs covering up part of the area but not all of it. Any ideas on removal???
no siding under the board…just that particle board crap that is under siding usually.
