It feels like the wheel on the left is rougher then the one on the right. Why is that? I haven’t sharpened a sword with it yet, but I know my grandfather has.
it is a model 3-70 bench mounted, patented 1911, hand crank that is all i know, should i save it or throw it in the scrap heap?
Need a bench grinder for making lock picks!
I want to make lock picks out of hacksaw blades with a bench grinder.
I really don’t want to spend a lot of money on a bench grinder and would like to know if this one is alright or not. I am probably only going to be using it for making lock picks so it doesn’t need to be great.

Ok my friend Patrick will lie about stuff that can’t even happen. He is 17 and dropped out of high school when he was 16 and has no job. He is 5 foot six inches, skinny and can’t even bench 60 pounds and weighs 133 pounds. He says that everyone is scared of him and claims he can beat my brother up with one hand which is 6 foot 5 inches and weighs 300 pounds and can bench 250 pounds. He says he can get any girl and all the smokin hot girls like him and yet every girl friend he’s had looked like they stuck their face in a grinder. He says he is going to get a job making 0,000 a year which drop outs usually don’t even make ,000 a year. He seems to believe his own lies like he is telling the truth. My brother gave him one time and he promised to pay him back but never gave him a penny but that was when he had no job but then he got a job and had the money to pay it but he never did and said he had bills or something (which he lives with his parents and pays nothing) I really don’t get this dude and I am a good friend to him.
Below are a few of the many lies he has said.
Lie1: When I got my permeant and I got all 20 questions right and he said he had 50 questions and got them all right, which is impossible cause there has always been 20 and I asked to see his permeant and he said he lost it in his other wallet.
Lie2: Im 6 foot 7 inches and weigh 163 pounds. One time when he spent the night I wanted to show him how much I could eat and ate 5 big plates of spaghetti with meat in it and later that night he said him and his friend one time ate 50 pizzas exactly and I said "they must of been really small" and he said "no they were 3 times bigger than average size". I looked up the world record for most pizzas ate a week later and it said someone ate 34 average size pizzas.
Lie3: When I graduated high school my mom and dad got me a really nice car (mitsubishi eclipse) and a couple months later he shows me pictures of the car he’s getting in 2 months (which he never got) which costs over ,000. He acts like my car sucks.
Lie3: He says he is getting a job as a waitress at pizza hut making 0 a day (2,000 a year) in tips. He says his friend makes 0 a day (2,000 a year) in tips. Even if that was true he is still too stupid to know you pay taxes on that. Im going to a technical school to be a computer engineer and make at least 0,000 a year so maybe he wants to say he can make more but theirs a difference between saying and having.
Lie4: He became a father with his girl friend kasey when he was 16 and now he’s broke up with her and she has the baby I said when he turns 18 he will have to pay child support and he says that she won’t go at him with child support. (The government will) Now he is saying that the baby is not his.
Lie5: Most of the things I say about how good I did on something he will say within a week or two that he just did better than me. But he never proves it.
I don’t understand why he has to lie so much. I can’t have conversation without him lying. I can tell every lie he says cause usually he exaggerates it to extreme levels that’s impossible to beat. It’s really starting to get annoying. I think he has mental disorders or in other words he’s retarded, considering he dropped out of school cause it was too hard for him. I thought my school was easy (I get strait A’s) but my school moved him to an easy school cause he was failing where the teachers would let you pass pretty much and you can be absent for two weeks at a time but that was still too hard for him.
I got lot’s of other friends (about 23 and are really awesome) from high school I hang out with and 24 others i could hang out with but I try to keep all my friends from knowing Patrick. In fact he thinks I have very little friends. The less he comes over the more I hang out with them.
I have small 6061 aluminum parts. I currently use polishing compound with a buffing wheel on my bench grinder, but the extremely small size of the parts make it tough to hold onto them, and since I have several hundred to polish, it is very time consuming.
I borrowed a friend’s vibratory polisher (the kind used to polish brass ammunition casings) but that did not work at all. Even after 24 hours, I did not see any results. I thought maybe the media wasn’t rough enough, so I tried glass beads from my sand blaster, but that didn’t work either. (It did however shine up some copper pennies I threw in there as a test.) I finally tried play sand, but all that did was smooth off the rough edges, and give my parts an overall "matte" finish (the exact opposite of what I wanted.)
Has anyone used a tumbler to polish aluminum with good results? If so, what media did you use?
I was also thinking of a rock tumbler, but again, what media would work?
I am looking for a fast and CHEAP way to make aluminum powder the fastest way possible (the finer the better!!!). I do not have a blender to ruin or a coffee grinder or a bench grinder!!! I need it ASAP so please help!!!
P.S I’ve heard of putting aluminum into a alkaline base drain cleaner but it has a VERY HIGH possibility of an explosion, so I don’t want to use it! THANKS SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hi, i want to make a shuriken out of a screw driver its about 1cm in diameter and 13cm long ( from the tip to the end of the metal shaft) is that an ok size to make one from and the metal tip is a cross but this is the main question i want to ask has a magnetic coating is that ok to use a bench grinder to shape it to a sharp point or will i need one without the magnetic coating? if its not a verry good size please tell me some specifications for a good one and is a double sided shuriken an easier option. thanks
